Im - imaginary component

  • Gets the imaginary component of a complex number

  • Given a complex number a + bi, the Im function returns the value of b

  • Im (x)
  • Im (12 + 2i) = 2

The imaginary part of a complex number is the part of the number that precedes the imaginary part i. The imaginary part of the complex number 2 - 5i is thus -5.
We also writes Im (2 - 5i) = -5.
